Search by place

Piktures reads the GPS position saved in each photo and turns it into a country and a city. Photos without a GPS position don't appear under the places.

Find the photos taken in a place

  1. In the Photos tab, open All to search the whole phone, or open an album to search only that album.
  2. Tap the magnifier at the top.
  3. Under COUNTRIES, tap a country. A CITIES list appears.
  4. To include the nearby towns, check Include neighbour before you choose a city: the cities less than 50 km away are selected with it.
  5. Tap one or more cities, or none to keep the whole country.
  6. Tap View result.

The places you chose appear as chips under the search bar. Remove one to widen the search, or tap ✕ to leave.

CITIES only appears when a single country is selected.

To keep this search as a smart album, tap the save icon. This needs Premium or Prime: see Special albums.

The magnifier is available in the phone's albums and on a network drive. It isn't in the Secret Space, on a cloud, on a USB drive, in Deleted items, or in a smart album.

Other filters

The search screen also filters by ALBUMS, MEDIA, YEARS, MONTHS, CAMERAS, and TAGS, and its text field searches text, locations, and dates. See Search and filters.

The map of a photo

Open a photo, then tap ⋮ at the top right, or swipe up. When the photo has a location, its details show a small map, the address, and the coordinates:

  • tap the address to copy it, with the coordinates;
  • the directions icon opens a maps app at that place;
  • tap the map to see it full screen, with the photos taken nearby. ✕ closes it.

The map comes from Google Maps, and the place names from Android's geocoding service.
